informed choice

Purpose

It is for requirements with respect to information provision, decision making and the relationship between the decider and (whoever are) the stakeholders. This kind of choice provides with clear requirements for information provision.


Definition

The decider role in the provision of informed choice is to be facilitative, informative and supportive, in a collaborative, non-authoritarian manner.


Informed choice is a process which:

i.requires the development of trust and respect between the decider and the stakeholders.


ii.involves a collaborative and co-operative information exchange between the decider and stakeholders with taking active part in the process.


iii.allows adequate time for consideration by deciders.


iv.takes into account factual information, risks and benefits, the experiences of the decider and the experience, feelings, beliefs, values and preferences of the stakeholders.


v.respect and encourages the individuals autonomy of the decider as the primary decision-maker.


vi.may include recommendation for care made by the stakeholders.


vii.the result in the end decide by the decider and then supported by the stakeholders.


Required information:

i.the potential risks, benefits and alternatives.


ii.relevant community standards.


iii.relevant research evidence.


iv.information related to decider standards and scope of practice.


v.identification of decider bias, if significant.


p/s:'informed choice' can be used in speech for any debate that talks about choices,rights,etc. eg. : THW legalise Euthanasia

English Debate Training

Attention to English Language Debate teams,

English Debate Training will be conducted on every Fridays ( 9th and 30th April, 14th and and 28th May) and every Saturdays (Sundays as well, if necessary..)
